Jala Clothing, a SoCal yoga inspired apparel brand, was established in 2008 by Kelly Kolterman an artist, yoga studio owner and yoga teacher. In Sanskrit, "jala" means “sacred waters of life”. In yoga, water symbolizes transformation, creativity, and adaptability. Jala’s logo, the lotus flower, symbolizes infinite possibilities within oneself and the potential to connect to a higher consciousness. Jala's soft fabrics, comfortable flowing styles and positive designs fuse mindfulness, yoga and fashion. Jala Clothing strives to have ethical business practices and to make a positive impact when ever possible. Humanitarian Jala Clothing has partnered with the non profit organization, Yoga Gives Back. Yoga Gives Back is dedicated to helping mothers in India start their own businesses and sending their children to school. 76% of India's population (800 million people) live below the poverty line of $2.50 a day. Yoga is a gift from India and purchasing the Yoga Gives Back collection with Jala Clothing allows you to give back. 100% of the profits from this collection will support the mothers and children of India. Ethical The majority of the Jala collection is made in USA. All of their unique graphic styles are hand painted and hand tie-dyed by local California family-owned businesses. Jala engages in many green business practices and is working on gaining several certifications or their efforts. Beyond recycling trash, shipping boxes, and clothing hangers, they run a paperless office and even opt out of heat or air conditioning to have less impact on the environment. Every small intention matters and supports the larger cause. Community At Jala, the term "seva" holds a special meaning. It is one of the simplest, yet most profound and life changing ways that they can put spiritual knowledge into action. Seva means “How may I serve you?” or “Can I help you?” At Jala, they believe in giving back through charitable services and free community yoga classes at their local store in Redondo Beach, CA.
